It is with great sadness that Sherri-Fern Kaplan Kahn passed away at the age of 73 surrounded by family on Tuesday December 18, 2018 from Respiratory Failure at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa.
She was born on the South Side of Chicago to Fred and Geraldine Kaplan on March 3, 1945 and remained in Chicago until moving to Los Angeles in 1963. Six years later, Sherri met David Kahn and 10 days after their first date, they were engaged. On December 31, 1969, they were married in Culver City, California. Within four and a half years, they would have two children, their son Jeremy Jason was born on August 28, 1971 and daughter Cynthia Hope was born on June 5, 1974. While living in the Los Angeles area, Sherri volunteered at many places, including the United Cerebral Palsy Telethon for 15 years and at Canoga Park High School for 11 years. After moving to Windsor, the volunteering continued, as she volunteered at Windsor High School for 18 years.
Sherri is survived by her husband for nearly 49 years, David, her son Jeremy, her daughter Cyndi and her precious dog Bella. She is also survived by her brother Mitchell (Susan) Kaplan, her niece Jennifer (Paul) Bagdade, her nephew Barry (Naomi) Kaplan, her great nieces, Madeline Bagdade and Zoey Kaplan, her great nephews Alexander Bagdade and Benjamin Kaplan and host of cousins. Sherri was preceded in death by her parents Geraldine and Fred Kaplan.
Friends are invited to a funeral service Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Congregation Beth Ami, 4676 Mayette Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95405. Burial immediately following at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, 1900 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95404. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sherri's honor may be made to the charity of your choice.
