On Friday, January 4, 2019 Victor Dotti passed away in Santa Rosa. With heavy hearts we share this news for Victor’s spirit was profoundly special. He spread nothing but love, warmth and compassion through out his 84 years of life. Victor was born in 1934 in Sebastopol to Carlo and Elizabeth Dotti and a longtime resident of Sonoma County. In his early years, Victor could be found working along side his family at the Dotti dairy milking and riding cows across Highway 12. He then joined the United States Army where he earned high honors for his service and obtained his first and only tattoo, a vulture, which at one point dripped red from his beak. He was never afraid of hard work, a new experience or a good time.
In 1964, Victor married his best friend and companion Geraldine Dotti. Soon after the couple welcomed the arrival of their only child, Christine. Although Victor had only one daughter he was
loved immensely by each and every one of his nieces and nephews. His generosity and unique charm gave anyone a sense of belonging.
Besides visiting with friends and family, fishing was Victors preferred past time. Victor was happiest with a reel in his hand and a screwdriver in the cupholder. He fished from Alaska to Mexico and several lakes in between frequently using his secret weapon, a classic worm. No matter the weather or condition he would set out on his aluminum boat stocked with a whistling toon, Fritos and good stories.
Victor leaves behind daughter Christine and grandchildren Shawn (Samantha), Aleshia (Jason), along with Great Granddaughter Charlie. He will be greatly missed as we navigate the world without his love and grace but are comforted in the fact that he’s really just, “gone fishing.”
